ArtHistorical Memorabilia
Grace Turnbull was one of the top Artist to come out of Maryland Instituted of Art and was considered " a member of the first generation of women artists to achieve recognition in the art field". Her work went from the the 20's and continued to the 50's doing more political minded items. Here she designed and cast three plaster medallions, all three mounted onto board and labeled on the back.
Go from Left to Right:
1. Maryland Conservation Association
2. Maryland Conservation Association for Outstanding Achievement
3. Maryland Conservation Association for Outstanding Achievement
All three have the labeled on the back with removal instructions and also artist statements about the piece.
One has the label for the juried show and gives a date of execution of 1950.
Each plaque is 14" x 14 1/2" wood with a 12" diam plaster medal.

A Penciled Signed Philip Kappel Lithograph of Lake at Dusk. Philip Kappel, known for his Maritime Art shows an almost Arts and Crafts style and or a Japanese Woodblock Technique in this tranquil scene at dusk. The lithograph is signed in pencil lower right.
The image size is almost an 8” x 10”.
The Frame is approx. 13” x 15”
Bigrpahical information:
Philip Kappel — painter, illustrator, printer, writer, and lecturer — was born on February 10, 1901 in Hartford, CT and died in 1981. Kappel is best remembered for his landscapes, portraits, figures, marine, lithography, and etching. He held a teaching position with H. B. Snell, Boothbay, ME Studios, 1923 and 1924.

Mid Century Design
The Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona Chair is one of the most iconic images of Modern Design The cushions are marked Made in Argentina and are made of supple leather. Lights scuffs and wear consistent with the age. The frame is stamped marked on the front left, "industria argentina ". The frame measures 29" high x 33 1/4" deep x 29 1/2" wide. Please note that one bolt is missing from the back side. This does not affect the strength or stability of the chair.
The leather straps are strong and supportive. This chair is ready to go into your house.

The 2 teak Kia Kristiansen chairs are the iconic armchairs with swivel back pad. The joints and Naugahyde fabric is in very good shape, there is a small tear on one chair, approx. 1” long. The chairs are marked Made in Denmark

Mid Century Design
An original Sperm Whale tooth scrimshawed with a modernist style of Miro, Klee and or other master of the early 20th century art. I have to say I have never seen such a unique piece of scrimshaw.
The tooth is approx. 4 1/8" tall x 1 3/4" wide at the base. The wood stand is marked on the bottom, Alan Shapiro is approx. 2 1/2" at the widest point (the bottom) and is 2 1/8" high.
The total height of the tooth and the stand is 6 1/4".

Roger Bezombes (1913-1994) "Air France Soleil" Serigraph 3D Collage Poster published by Mourlot Paris, circa 1980. The poster was commissioned by Air France and measures approx. 39 1/8" x 23 5/8".
The poster has some minor abrasions and some soiling to paper, please see photos for a visual description.
Roger Bezombes was an artist of great talent, winning awards, multiple Gallery shows and commissions . A student of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, his art used rich saturated bold colors which can be seen in this wonderful poster from circa 1980.

Mid Century Design
Overman AB of Sweden made some of very cool early 1960's Pod Chairs. This chair has the aluminum legs with black pad feet which is the earlier models. This is not a new chair, but an original as you can see from the label.
The black Naugahyde is in near perfect shape except for a small snag on left side (looking at the chair). The aluminum is not rusted but does have some very minor surface scuffs to the metal. The Chair measures approx. 33" wide x 26 1/2" tall x 26 1/2" deep.

A bold and very nice Joan Miro Lithograph after the 1951 painting, On Four Walls. This large Lithograph published by Galerie Maeght's Derrière le Miroir 1952 art review magazine is a licensed edition. Miro worked closely with the publishing of this image of this wall painting originally for the Harvard University Graduate School. The image is approx. 10" x 31 1/4" and is still strong and bold colors.
The total edition is about 1200.

A true Navajo Silversmith, Ben Bengaye also known as Ben Bengay stamped signed BB Sterling with Feather mark under initials.
This is a remarkable Bracelet Cuff with a nice piece of turquoise. The silver is not a molded, but carved and cut silver. This is a vintage piece that had care and precisions of his early works. The bracelet is approx 2 3/4" wide.
