An original Charcoal of The Indian Sun Vow, circa 1940.
The Indian Sun Vow was a bronze sculpture by Hermon Atkins MacNeil was done in 1891 and is in such notable Museums as The Metropolitan Museum of Art which commissioned a bronze from the artist in 1919.
Minnie Margaret Cronhardt was a graduate from The Maryland Institute School of Art in around 1901.
A small biography can be seen in the Mar-bet School of Commercial Art in the 1939-1940 edition, included with the sale of this piece.
The charcoal is signed lower right Minnie Cronhardt and is an almost full rendition of the Bronze Sculpture, except for the bow the bow is holding, she has cropped the bow to fit the size of the paper.
The charcoal is on paper and the paper is matted and framed. There is some mat burn on the right side of the paper and there is a small mark on the paper were the piece appears to have been bumped.
