1964 Globe Posters The Pipe Dreamers Baltimore Area R&B Band at Cedar Hill Forest Saturday May 30th 1964

A Early Globe Poster design for a R&B dance band, from 1964. 

Globe Poster was known for doing named and no named bands from the 1920's to the 1990's. They for all intensive purpose documented the African American music scene from the time they moved to Baltimore in 1920s on up. Every generation of musicians went to Globe Poster. The posters grabbed your attention with the bold black and simple, in this case one color design.  Globe could use more color but why, the simple angle in this case, the pink, draws your eye right in. This one color was cheap and easy for the company and of course cheaper for the band. 

In the late 50's- to early 60's, big band R&B bands were the thing but by the mid 1960's with The Beatles taking over the sound, R&B big bands were on the their way out. The Pipe Dreamers were a Baltimore region band from 1964- to about 1969. 
This poster is from 1964, Saturday May 30th Memorial Day Dance at Cedar Hill Forest

Size: 14 x 22 inches 
Condition: fine, the poster has been folded and the center has a hole as well as the bottom, this was an actual used poster that hung on a telephone phone. That was their purpose, they were actual outside advertising. Light tear on the left side and light marks/ soil marks on the cardboard. Please see the photos for more details.
