19th Centry Folk Art Primitive Oil on Canvas of Ships in Harbor
Circa mid to last quarter 19th Century oil on Canvas of Ships in Harbor.
The frame is a later addition to this piece. The Canvas has older stretcher bars and the keys are typical of the 19th C.
The subject matter does have a Neapolitan look and feel. The ships are a single mast sloop style which you see a lot in paintings of Naples of 18th-19th C.
The painting is unsigned
Size: Frame- 24 x 36 inches
Canvas- 18 x 26 inches
Condition: the painting has not been cleaned. The ground has crazing but no paint chipping is visible.
