Black on Black Native American Pot Santa Clara Bowl By Gregorita Chavarria 
Signed on bottom “Gregorita Sta Clara Prie” Gregorita (Chavarria) 1905-2008 who was a Pueblo Native American. 
Year: pot is circa 1950’s 
Not a lot of information on Gregorita Chavarrria, mostly her pottery pieces are known.

 A short history of Santa Clara Pottery…"Black pottery has been made at Santa Clara Pueblo for generations.  Potters at the pueblo were making many pieces of black pottery in the late 1800s for tourists and nearby households in Santa Fe and Espanola.  Santa Clara potters used a decorating method not used by other pueblos—that is they impressed a design into the wet clay, such as bear paw designs."

Size: 5 1/8" wide x 3 3/4" tall 
Condition: very fine, some very light marks on the back but no cracks or visible chips. The signature on the bottom is very clear. Please see the images for more details.
