Circa 1900 Chinese Carved Side Table Plantstand Rosewood and Inlaid Stone

One of the great times of world export is around 1900. The East was exporting and in the west it become the quest for the exotica.
The Chinese exporting Tea, Spices and even the illegal Opium trade was exported from the East but the furniture was something people wanted and to show off. The East offered the unknown, exotic and mystical. So when ships brought the rosewood carved furniture America bought it up. The downside to this importing of furniture was it was not designed for the climate, so when I get a piece as good of condition as this one, I am excited to show it off.

Hard to find in good condition, this amazing Chinese Side Table Plant Stand has very nice detailed carved knees and apron. There is minor separation on the joints at the bottom and the top's seams have slight separation, but this does not effect the stability and look of this piece.
The top is a inset soapstone, very similar to marble but is a softer stone, so there are some slight scratches visible to the stone.

Size: 17" diam. top and approc 18" inches tall

Condition: Very fine with minor separation at the bottom legs from the wood shrinking. The glue joint are fine and the piece is very stable. No major damage to the carved apron, minor bumps in areas. Some scratches on the soapstone surface and the joints on the top show slight shrinkage. I have included many photos and if you need more images before purchase please feel free to email me.
