Confederate Parade Flag from Savanna Ga. Sherman's March to Sea With Letter Civil War

The field of the flag is not original (a early conservation and stabilization), circa post War construction, original stars and bars.

With letter presenting to General Hanson. Letter states it was the last parade of the Confederates in Savanna Georgia carried by Grandmother, Mrs. Nichols and granddaughter and was given to “letter writer”. The “letter writer, Corp. in Artillery Main Volunteers ” was friends with Capt. William Nichols (Confederate Army). The letter states she gave the flag up because her “she had no use for it… my father’s a loyal Union Soldier..”


Size: 10" x 13” and the pole is 21”
Condition: original pole and stars and bars, the red field appears to have been replaced at some point. The Letter is in very good condition. Please see the images provided for more visual details.
