Daguerreotype of Man with Small Cane Case Image Sixth Plate 2.75 x 3.25 inches Circa 1840 Overly Styled Hair

Daguerreotype of Man with Small Cane Sixth Plate 2.75 x 3.25 inches Circa 1840

Even with the long exposure and hardships to do a daguerreotype, this man was able to hold a impish smile and hold his small delicate gentleman's stick in his hand. The image is not signed and there is no indication of who the man was. Obviously he had means, his dress and his fancy hair style indicates he had means.
The stick is not a cane but a gentleman's stick to hold and carry has he "glided" across town.
Year: Circa 1840

The simple mat is typical of early daguerreotypes, but the case is simple one, no embossed velvet inside, just a simple colored silk.

Size: Sixth Plate 2.75 x 3.25 inches
Condition: the daguerreotype has scratches on the plate, appears to have been cleaned at some point. Some tarnish marks on the left side and the image is faded. The seals will need to be replaced. The glass and case is original.
