Eight Plate Daguerreotype of Old Woman Holding a Pot of Flowers Circa 1840’s
Eight Plate Daguerreotype of Old Woman Holding a Pot of Flowers Circa 1840’s.
The Daguerreotype appears to be circa 1840’s-1850’s.
The case design is a simple, not as ornate as later cases. The mat is a oval sandy finish mat which is mid-1840s.
The old woman is seated holding a potted flower and to the left is a table with a stock of books. A typical background but the flowers is something I have not seen before.
Condition: the plate has started to turn around the edges. Some soiling to the glass and on here hand is appears to be a slight bit of oxidation.
Size: eight plate size, 2 3/4” x 3 1/4”
