Guerrero Mexico Wood Carved Mermaid 

The Guerrero region of Mexico has been a destination for a long time, with the Taxco Silversmiths to the beautiful beaches, the region is fill with culture and art.
Their wood figures are carved and the wood is very magical to the people. 
Many of the these wood figure are used for religion and celebration and are a main feature of the regions culture. 
"the indigenous group (Nahua) that produce these beautiful solid carved wood pieces of art. They are generally carved by men using the Tzampamitla tree and then whimsically detailed"

The Mermaid is not typical of what you normally see, the figure standing up right gives the piece a more significant presence. 

Dimensions are 21 high x 22 wide x 25 long
Condition: fine with light bumps at the edges from age. No repairs or structural damage. Please see the images for more details.
