The amazing and highly erotic images from the “In The Garden of Aphrodite” is one of more famous images created by Franz von Bayros. Due to the sexual graphic nature of his art, he was arrested several times in his life. His highly sexual and erotic images have been collected for generations and still draw lookers and collectors to his art.

Franz von Bayros (28 May 1866 – 3 April 1924) was part of what is sometime called the Decadent Movement that was along side the Symbolist movement but the difference was the perverted and carnal images these artist and writers employed. Even though this movement and style was in the last quarter of the 19th century, the style and effect would cary on, von Bayros would be a very late example of this movement. Early artist are Félicien Rops and the later literary figure Oscar Wilde were both a part of this movement. These artist were not in a vacuum or their "outsider" or decadent view, the occult movement was a part of this break of social and common approach to life. The rise of occultism and Aleister Crowley's Golden Dawn would be a constant thorn in the side of "civil" and "good taste" culture. The Art of von Bayros viewed through lens of contemporary movements like Occultism, Symbolists and the self proclaimed Decadent Artist, his art is another example of how society was shifting and always changing.

Condition: Some soiling to the pages but the images are very fine.  The Folio binding is broken and unattached and only partial spine is remaining . Please see the images for more details.
