This is a signed James Hayllar oil on canvas signed "j. Hayllar" lower left and titled "First Born at the Cottage". This is a lovely oil by the famed English Genre painter which has been in this family's collection for close to 60 years. This pieces was originally exhibited at the Burlington House in the Royal Academy in 1881. The frame appears to be period and the metal tag may be the original from the exhibition.
