Near Perfect Moorcroft Vase with Poppies Flambe Glaze Label On The Bottom with Incised Mark Circa 1946

"William Moorcroft first began work as a pottery designer in the late 19th century when he joined James MacIntyre & Company. In 1928, Queen Mary awarded Moorcroft a royal warrant. Soon after, the Liberty department store, one of London’s leading retailers, supported Moorcroft with funding to advance the development of special pattern lines."

All of the Moorcroft pottery is marked on the bottom with incised and art initials and a few have the label given by the queen to be her potter. "In 1936, after the death of King George V, it read “Potter To HM Queen Mary.” The Royal Warrant was transferred to Walter Moorcroft in 1946, and labels thereafter read “By Appointment Potters To The Late Queen Mary.”

The Vase is a heavy and wide mouth top tall vase. The glazing is even with the color of the flowers coming through.

Condition: Near perfect with minor wear on the bottom. No chips or cracks in the pottery. The label on the bottom is partial but can make out the wording which gives the indication of approx year. Please see the images for a visual description of this vase.
