The Sylvan Press was a publisher of book, many are limited edition and used heavy quality paper and older printing techniques.
The binding was elaborate with full embossed and gilt covers.

The Dance of Death by the German artist Hans Holbein (1497–1543)
Holbein drew the woodcuts between 1523 and 1525, while in his twenties and based in the Swiss town of Basel.
Dance of Death…"is an artistic genre of allegory of the Late Middle Ages on the universality of death: no matter one's station in life, the Dance Macabre unites all."

Limited edition of 1499, most the books are numbered with a card, the card is missing.

Size: 8 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches
Condition: Near fine with minor bumps to the edges, no writing inside the book. The last page has a small bump to the back fly page and last page. Please see the images provided for a visual description.
